Hi!
After completing the single-player missions i tried to play GO online. I downloaded the patch (2.0) and tried to connect to any server (tried different ones). My problem is: most of the time i simply can't connect. I can see the map loading screen, but that moving loading animation stops and my mouse curser appears -after a while it just says Time-Out. At that moment my internet connection is down too. No chance to get it working without restarting my modem. Anyone knows a solution for this?
My system: TB-800 on a KT7-Raid (kt7_a9 bios + VIA Hyperion 4.48), Geforce 2 GTS SB-Live 5.1 Player 256Ram (no-name ;() 80GB Maxtor HDD Compu-Shack Fast-Eternet SN-103 Network Adapter (PCI-UTP 10/100 Base-T -whatever that means)
So i guess i've said enough. Thanks in advance...

hi and welcome First of all, GO single player sucks; online is much and much more fun. 2nd, your problem doens't really sound familiar to me so I think I can't help you . Are you running a firewall? If so, maybe it has something to do with that. And could you also tell us wich Operating System you are running? That might help people to try and fix your problem.

I had the exact same problem I am with telewest broadband (UK) and my PC is running windows 2000 and this problem kept happening to me, though only on certain maps. Sri Lanka was the worst one for this problem The ProblemThe map begins loading then you lose your internet connection totally, requiring a modem reboot. I had 3 Telewest engineers out checking my connection and PC. I even phoned EA and asked them about it. In the end there seemed to be no way of fixing it and i considered stopping playing GO altogether. 2 SolutionsArtkayek wrote a little program for me which pings an IP address (like http://www.bbc.co.uk) every few seconds. If the program doesn't get a reply it performs the following commands. ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew This stopped my connection from failing. You need to have it running constantly while you are playing GO. The fact that the program is making your computer ask for a new IP address from your ISP obviously adds a little time to the map loading but this program will enable you to enjoy this wonderful amazing game. www.skunk0001.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/renewer.zipOR I found that upgrading my computer to Windows XP Pro fixed the problem for good (no need for the renewer program) I really hope this helps you m8, I know how frustrating this problem can be. The multiplayer side of GO is far better than the single player. If you have any further problems of this kind you can contact me on the MJ12 forum. mj12.proboards10.com

Thanks for your help! My Operating System is Windows XP Pro ;( I'm not sure wether IP adress renewing works here, because i have a static IP... But i will try it, thanks for that little program...
BTW: Multiplayer is far better because human players don't tend to get stuck in walls ^_^

I found out purely by chance that if i released/renewed my ip address at the moment the map stopped loading that it fixed the problem. (I had to use 2 PC to do this because obviously if you alt tab out of GO you stop trying to connect to the server)
My IP address hasn't changed for months. I don't think its the fact I got a new address that fixed it. I'm guessing that its some procedure involved in the release/renew process that rectify's the problem.

ok, here is my problem: Everytime i try to use either /renew or /release i get: This does not work because there is no adapter in a valid state for this action. I guess this is a very helpful message... Maybe i should add more about my internet connection: I got a cablemodem which is connected via networkcard to my computer (-> no windows recognition or driver) And my ip is static. Maybe this is why i can't release the ip? The "repair" function could do the trick but i can't think of a way to start it without alt-tabing back to windows. Edit: Here is a picture of WinIpConfig: Thanks for your support by the way ;-) L0stS0ul

I forgot to add something to my instructions on the use of the renewer program that artkayek wrote
When the progress bar at the bottom of the screen stops moving (right before your internet connection fails) you have to pull the plug for your cable modem out of the socket and push it back in (in order to start a modem reboot). Just pull the power long enough to get all the lights turned off on your modem then push it back in. You only have so long before Global Ops realizes that your connection has failed and timesout.
The program will continue to try and release/renew until your connection comes back. GO gives you enough time for the modem to reboot and and your connection to be restored before the timeout occurs.

Thanks RogueElement that works -at least sometimes. Although I'm not quite sure whether the program helps because renewing doesn't work for me.

What the program allows you to do is a modem reboot without having to alt+tab from the game.
I think microsoft should add this as a feature to windows. i.e. If your modem reboots windows should automatically try and re-establish a connection.
I hope to see you on the battlefield

I have read this , talked with Don Camillo , but I have no Idea what the problem is.
Though I am convinced it has to do with the connection / modem.
I would try borrowing the modem of your neighbour / friend ...Maybe the modem is just fucked.

Thank all of you for your help! MJ12 || RogueElement: the modem-reboot thing does the trick -even though the program is not essential. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't... Well, i'm playing too much anyways L0stS0ul

@ Artkayek
I thought my modem was broken also and demanded a new one from Telewest. That didn't fix it either.
