Hey guys!
I thought I would stop buy and see how my old pal Spookstah was doing these days.
I noticed things are still active here!
Good to see you guys supporting the game and the community still after all these years.
In my opinion Global Operations and Raven Shield are the top two shooters of all time for PC.
I think I am going to setup a server again for the US based players / Western EU players.
I just installed the latest version of Global Operations and jumped onto an overseas server.
Brings back old memories especially the Mogadishu map we made for the Cincihighspeed tournament we ran!
Anyhow hit me up guys and look forward to seeing some of you on the new server.

That's too bad.
I thought Spookstah would keep a server up for it from now until doomsday!
I had a few people already in my server last night. Great pings and some great games.
I forgot how fun this game.
I was really surprised about how good the game still looked.
I also forgot about that ridiculous warping bug which I soon fixed with that macromedia download.
Hope to see more people on the server later on today.
This game beats the crap out of Modern Warfare 2 for the PC.
Shit that doesn't even have a dedicated server!
I might need someone to refresh my memory on the GO Server settings.
If memory servers me correct T1 was the best bandwidth setting regardless of how much you had and was Time Sync enabled?

If I remember right last time I've seen spookstah on irc he left to watch movies But I think he got fed up somehow to this game etc. Got better things to do like family and so on though im not 100% sure. Dunno anything about servers etc but theres this dude called boby who knows this server side stuff allthough im not sure if he still browses tlp site. But dbka.freeforums.org/ there you c him post some stuff. Gotta agree with you this ones the game. As my comp dates back to 2004 haven't really had a possibility to test any other games. My fellow Kru members play some other games but from what ive heard they are nothing for me as they have cars etc dumb stuff. And yes modern day warfare 2 is doomed I might know how to connect serkoon if your interested. Occa

Great link occa. Thanks for the info.
My ventrilo server is pulse.typefrag.com port=13108 if anyone wants to jump on and say hi or play with voice on our team.
I am testing out T1 settings (because I remember the Devs saying don't use T3 unless it's a LAN due to lag) and no Time Sync.
Time Sync was the anti-cheat method developed for the LithTech engine if I remember right.
I think it had a tendency to lag out players a lot too.
I have already had a handful of players stop by the server so far and it hasn't even been up for more then a day.
I might have to go on a serious recruiting campaign and get all the old players to come back.

It just depends on where you're located at in the world since the server is in the middle of the US not on the East Coast. EU Gamers are going to see a 30-50ms ping difference from a East Coast US Server since the server is in Texas and not New York or New Jersey. However South American and Mexican gamers are going to see a 50-100ms ping IMPROVEMENT since it's located closer to them. US players are of course going to have fantastic ping since it's right in the middle of the country and is balanced for everyone. I run a Vegas 2, Battlefield 2, America's Army 3, and a few other servers off of the same dedicated datacenter and it runs fantastic. It's in the largest datacenter in that part of the country so the connection is Tier 1 bandwidth on a top notch provider backbone. That being said if you're in europe the most logical server would be the one in europe. Most Europeans on the server were getting anywhere from 150ms to 200ms pings. I played on that connecting to their servers yesterday and I can manage ok but I know what you mean.....

Yes 150-200 is ok. Cant remember anymore which US server I got like stable 100ms ping all the time or was it even US could be Canada too. Yesterday I seemed to have like 120ms ping average to your server while browsing the servers. Years ago while there where no active gaming going on in the night time on euro servers I even played on those korean/china etc servers but thats another story while the pings where +350 all the time

I did some more tweaking today on the server and made a lot of progress.
I increased the datarate setting to T3 and it seemed to really improve performance even with the overseas players.
It seemed like I was actually up to 2:1 ktd with a decent amount of people on the server.
I'm still real rusty with GO. It doesn't play like another FPS so you really have to get back into your grove vs. good players.

Noticed that you are a bit rusty. Started laughing in our duels as your clip went empty and u run away like Usain Bolt and still couldn't hit u There was some serious tk'n going on somewhat +12h ago. This kiddo called [ISF] blowjob tk'd me like 5 times on purpose and as I started vote-kick he was like "it was an accident". Yeah right in our spawn just as we spawned etc. He team killed like +10times in total... and yes I got few screens to back it up x) The server seems to run fine for me despite the "high" ping. Thx for an another option to play on Ninja. Occa

A lot of the Euro people were fairing well on the server today despite the 150-200ms ping for the connections to the US.
The US players were ecstatic and getting anywhere from 7ping to about 60ms.
I was doing fairly well today getting back into the grove.
I saw some faces like Rendo and tj that I haven't seen in GO in almost 7 years.
Having not played GO in so many years it's amazing to go back and rediscover all the things that today's FPS games are missing.
The attention to detail in GO is simply amazing.
I just wished they used a different engine in making the game then the LithTech or at the very least spent a few more months correcting the bullet drop issues heh..

I`m still around and i still had a server up and running (located @ work), but it had to enable the firewall on my router because i did get complains from my ISP about my dns being open 2 the public And i did open the needed ports 4 GO (or atleast i thought i did), but somehow the server can not be seen on inet.
